CFUW Talk, Nov. 16

November 2017

Coming up on Nov. 16, 2017, I will be speaking about the women highlighted in the recent Vanguard exhibit of the Nova Scotia Museum. That illustrated talk on the women of 150 Years of Remarkable Nova Scotians will be given to the Dartmouth chapter of CFUW (Canadian Federation of University Women). I am very much looking forward to meeting the group.

Truro Talk, Sept. 26

September 2017

I greatly enjoyed speaking at the the Colchester Historeum in Truro, NS, on Sept. 26. The topic was “Vanguard: 150 Years of Remarkable Nova Scotians,” the exhibit I researched and wrote for the Nova Scotia Museum. There were thirty people in attendance, and all keen to hear about the individuals selected.

Meanwhile, the Vanguard exhibit has closed its run at the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History and will be re-opening, without the artifacts, at Ross Farm in New Ross, NS

Dartmouth Talk, Nov. 16

September 2017

Details are now firmed up for my Nov. 16, 2017 presentation on the Vanguard exhibit — 150 Years of Remarkable Nova Scotians — to the University Women of Dartmouth.

The location will be Oakwood House, 20 Boathouse Lane, in Dartmouth. There is a regular meeting that starts at 7 pm, and then about 8 pm I will be talking about the exhibit, with a focus — as requested by the University Women — on the many women whose accomplishments are celebrated in the exhibit.

The Vanguard exhibit, by the way, is opening soon in the new exhibit center at Ross Farm (New Ross, NS) and later will be hosted by the Desbrisay Museum in Bridgewater, NS.

Truro Library, June 14

May 2017

I am delighted to be offering a presentation at the brand-new (really quite old) library in Truro, NS. What used to be the 19th-century Normal College has been completely renovated and now is the home of the Truro branch of the Colchester East Hants Library. Here is the link to my talk.

Wolfville, April 29

April 2017

My panorama setting missed half a dozen people on the right side of the room, at the WFNS “So You Want to be Published,” April 29 session in Wolfville.

“So You Want to be Published”

April 2017

Sarah Sawler and I took our traveling Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia roadshow “So You Want To Be Published” to Wolfville on April 29. It was once again a full house of engaged writers. Together, everyone shared ideas and experiences, with Sarah and I leading the way. Next, I’ll be doing something similar with Norma Jean MacPhee in Sydney on May 9. Sarah and I will be getting our little band back together for one last performance in Yarmouth on May 16.
