Grand-Pré Events

July 2018

Wonderful weekend of events, a true cultural spectacular, coming up at Grand-Pré on Aug. 17-18, 2018.

I am delighted to be on the program. I will be having a book launch on Aug. 18 at 2 pm for my new YA novel, The Hat. It’s a 21st-century telling of the story of the Acadian Deportation. Then I will be on a panel exploring the different layers of Grand-Prés landscape.

WW1 Exhibit Accompanies Book Release

May 2018

To accompany my talk at Truro’s Colchester Historeum on May 17, Elinor Maher (my sister) and Donna Meese have put together a mini-exhibit entitled “Caring for the Wounded.” Details are on the poster below. The exhibit will only be up for about a week. Thanks to Elinor and Donna for putting it together.

Something True is Released

March 2018

Some books take longer than others.

I began writing about Katharine McLennan and the McLennan family in general back in the 1980s. At some point in the 1990s I began to write what I thought was going to be a biography of Katharine. To my surprise it turned out to be a novel. Off and on over the past 20 years I have gone back to that project, changing this and that, making it longer or shorter. Tighter.

That novel — Something True — has now been released on different Amazon platforms. I`ll be in Sydney at the McConnell Library talking about that book and about my other new book, The Hat, on April 24. I`ll be doing the same talk at the Colchester Historeum in Truro on May 17.

Here is the lovely cover art that Lio Lo produced to grace the cover of Something True, without the author and title across part of the image.
