Nouveau film sur Louisbourg

Le nouveau film documentaire — Louisbourg, un rêve d’Amérique — a été diffusé en France sur FR3. Le film était tourné pendant 2013, le tricentenaire de la fondation de Louisbourg, par Marc Jouanny et Françoise Mamolar. Il contient beaucoup de belles images, un narratif génial, et des entrevues avec plusieurs historiens, y compris moi. J’espère que dans un proche avenir le film serait diffusé au Canada.

A photo with a twist

The photo of me with two distinguished people is real, sort of. Yes, I accompanied Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip on their 1994 tour of the Fortress of Louisbourg, but there were others in the entourage as well. My step-mother wanted to crop out the others: Premier John Savage, federal Minister Dave Dingwall and others. So she went to a photo shop and this is the result. You can make out some of the feet of the missing people if you study the ground.

An 18th-Century Style Book Launch

This past Saturday at 4 o’clock, if you happened to step inside 222 Charlotte Street, you would have stepped back a few centuries. Allegro Grill & Deli transformed itself into an 18th-Century French bistro for two magical hours for the launch of A. J. B. Johnston’s latest book, Thomas: A Secret Life.
