Congratulations to Wanda Bernard and Dan Christmas on their appointments to the Senate. Two great choices by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

I want to add that the new approach being taken by the PM to Senate appointments marks a turning point in the history of that body. Instead of rewarding political partisanship, the Senate is in the process of becoming completely independent. A true place for sober second thought, as the expression goes.

After a few dreadful appointees by the previous government, the current administration is aiming to create a revitalized Senate that could actually live up to its potential.
