The Lincolns … in a book

Published September 9, 2018 by A.J.B. Johnston

I have written a fair number of books over the years. Until now, they’ve all been about time periods before my own. That is about to change. I have been asked to write a book about the legendary 1960s R&B / Soul group based in Truro which was called “The Lincolns.”

I could not be more pleased. I likely heard “The Lincolns” play a few hundred times. They were a huge influence on me and everyone else growing up in Truro, Nova Scotia, and in many other Maritime communities.

Between now and the end of the year, I will be looking for as many stories and anecdotes as people want to share with me. About Friday nights at Truro’s Legion, or about dances in Dartmouth, Halifax, Sydney and anywhere else the band had a devoted following.

If anyone reading this post has memories they would like to see retold in a book, please let me know. It would clog up this site to put such stories as comments on this site, so please make initial contact with me by going to my web site (ajbjohnston.com) and click on “Contact”. We can then talk by phone, email or maybe in person.

Here’s a photo of legendary drummer Rod Norrie taken after the first of our interviews.
